I have been teaching mathematics now for over 11 years. During my first degree of physiotherapy (1997-2000) I tutored primarily Yr 10-12 students, including 3 & 4 Unit Mathematics students from all over Sydney. In 2002, I had a career change. I decided to move into teaching and have not looked back since!
I am an enthusiastic and energetic person, and I enjoy directing this into my teaching. Personally, I believe motivating students is the most important aspect to simple, yet effective teaching.
I travelled for 2 years and lived in the United Kingdom (UK). This experience taught me many life long lessons, and it gave me the opportunity to also explore (and become proud!) of my Maltese & Lithuanian heritage.
On a professional level, the UK was excellent for my teaching. Based in London and then Bristol, I taught a wide range of students with multiple needs. I now feel competent in helping students of Non English Speaking Background, with Numeracy or Literacy difficulties, the Gifted and Talented and those students with Special Educational Needs.
I am somebody who loves my sports. My favourite is surfing, followed closely by snowboarding. I have also coached many sports including: touch football, rugby league, cricket, volleyball, basketball and athletics. My highlight would have to be taking the CBHS Lewisham Under 13’s Rugby League side to the NSW All Schools Grand Final in 2007.

I completed my Sports Management degree in 1998 hoping to forge a career managing professional sportspeople. However after a few years I realised via my voluntary sports coaching positions I had a passion for motivating young people to believe they could achieve anything they set their minds to. From there, teaching became the obvious career path for me.
While studying Mathematics teaching at University, I started tutoring students of diverse backgrounds and different ability levels and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I juggled tutoring with fulltime teaching for a year or 2 before I decided to try living in another culture.
I moved to South Korea in 2005 where I taught English in a high school for a year. It was an amazing and rewarding experience both professionally as a teacher and personally. I also spent 6 months in Spain where I taught business people English and learned about the Spanish culture.
I have tutored Mathematics on and off for the past 8 years and most recently taught fulltime at CBHS Lewisham in 2007, teaching Years 7-12. During my time teaching I have coached various sports including Cricket, Basketball, Rugby League and Volleyball. I enjoy playing tennis and the occasional round of social golf. I recently got married and enjoy spending time with my wife and step-sons.
I believe strongly in empowering young people so they can have the freedom to choose their career path and have the flexibility should they change their mind. Motivation, Organisation and Self-Discipline are the key characteristics I try to instill in all my students to allow them to reach their potential.
